About CAMRA

We are an independent, voluntary organisation which campaigns for real ale, cider and perry as well as protecting and promoting community pubs and clubs and fighting for consumer rights.

We have nearly 185,000 members across the country who work to champion beer and cider drinkers as well as pub and club goers. Our campaigns range from protecting pubs threatened with closure, fighting unfair taxation on beer and cider and ensuring fair competition and choice in the pub and beer market.

Our members support well-run pubs as the centres of community life and believe their continued existence plays a critical social role in UK culture. For more information on our campaigns, please visit: camra.org.uk/campaigns

We are considered the expert source in all things beer and pub-related, and we publish a number of leading books including the market-leading Good Beer Guide. For more information about our publications, please visit: shop.camra.org.uk

CAMRA is made up of thousands of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to further our aims. More than 200 local branches run 260 beer festivals across the country, including the Great British Beer Festival in London.

CAMRA is governed by a National Executive who are elected at our Members’ Weekend for a three-year term and has a professional staff of fifty who are responsible for central campaigning, research, membership services, publishing, marketing, press and administration.

Our organisation is financed by membership subscriptions, sales of books and merchandise and proceeds from national and local beer festivals. CAMRA is a not for profit company, limited by guarantee. Any surpluses the Campaign generates are used for ongoing campaigning purposes.
